Community Engagement Fellows empowers educators and community leaders to nurture engaged citizens, serve the public, and improve the Salish Sea bioregion and the planet, using social and place-based learning methods to facilitate the growth of effective, durable learning partnerships across organizational boundaries. Western Washington University’s Center for Community Learning has served as the convener since the program began in 2015.
The Community Engagement Fellows are inviting you to register and participate in the 3rd Community Engagement Fellows: Africa program, October-November 2022. This is an opportunity to create community solutions through collaborations that transcend geographical, political, and sociocultural boundaries.
Community leaders across Africa will have an opportunity to share their experiences and learn from fellow leaders from different African countries. Our varying contexts, dynamics and social problems from community to community will help create rich learning opportunities. The program will be co-facilitated by Dominic Savio, Director of the Akili Pana Initiative in Uganda, and Travis Tennessen, Convener of Community Engagement Fellows at Western Washington University, USA.

“Being part of the Community Engagement Fellowship, Africa introduced me to a new way of viewing and sharing challenges faced in my daily community through the Design Clinic sessions. Most importantly, it made me appreciate the value of community involvement in overcoming communal challenges. I also had the opportunity to network and collaborate with young Africans across the continent that shares the same values as me.
