Join the public hybrid event titled “Prospective Analysis of Senegalese Agriculture in 2050: Agro-industry versus Agroecology?” on April 16, 2024, from 09:30 to 12:30 GMT, co-organized by MAERSA, ISRA-BAME, FAO, and CIRAD, at the Auditorium, ISRA Hann Research Center, Dakar, Senegal. Online participation will also be possible.
The event’s main objective will be to share and discuss with participants the key findings of the prospective exercise “AgroEco2050-Senegal” and its implications for sustainable agri-food systems in Senegal.
Implemented jointly by the Government of Senegal, CIRAD, ISRA-BAME, FAO, and DyTAES, with financial support from GIZ on behalf of BMZ, AgroEco2050-Senegal emerges as an essential initiative aimed at informing long-term visions for Senegalese agriculture.
This collective effort engaged scientists, farmers, policymakers, and institutions in shaping the future. AgroEco2050-Senegal aimed to clarify and quantify two different visions of what agriculture, food, nature, employment, and well-being in Senegal could look like by 2050. One vision was based on intensifying conventional industrial agriculture (IA), while the other was scaling up agroecology (AE). The goal was to compare and understand the implications of these two different paths and to assess their coherence.
This dynamic three-hour event will bring together officials, researchers, civil society, private sector representatives, and stakeholders from Senegal and the international community. Through expert insights and stakeholder engagement, the event aims to foster dialogue, raise awareness, and stimulate action towards a sustainable and prosperous agricultural landscape in Senegal.
The event will be interpreted in English. Join us for an insightful exploration of sustainable visions for the future of agriculture in Senegal!
