YenKasa Africa Radio Initiative
The YenKasa Africa Radio Initiative 2022 has been coordinated by AMARC and aims at promoting the role of Family Farmers at the Heart of Food Systems. It is framed within the United Nations Decade of Family Farming (UNDFF).
This awareness activity is based on radio use, capitalizing on the experience gained in 2021 and including a new dimension to work: participatory radio production through dialogue between family farmer’s organizations and community/rural radios.
The Participatory Radio Initiative (PRI) has been carried out in six African countries; Kenya, Zambia, Tanzania, Ghana, Madagascar and Tog, with 3 main objectives:
- To raise awareness of the role of family farming in sustainable food systems and to inform about relevant UNDFF-related activities at the policy, institutional and field levels;
- To share information about issues related to family farming and the priorities of farmers’ organizations;
- To enhance the use of radio as an interactive service in support of Family Farming.
