In West Africa, women make up almost 80% of the agricultural and food production workforce, taking on the majority of food-related tasks. The United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has noticed a trend known as the “feminization of agriculture,” indicating an increasing involvement of women in the field. Despite their significant role, women’s contributions often go unrecognized and they are sidelined. The Network of Peasant and Agricultural Producers’ Organizations of West Africa (ROPPA) is working to change this narrative through various initiatives.
